Vice President, Climate Change & Sustainability

Marian Van Pelt has more than 20 years of experience in climate change, sustainability, and greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation and accounting. Nominated by the United States to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change's (UNFCCC) Roster of Experts, Ms. Van Pelt is an internationally recognized expert in industrial process GHG emissions and in overall GHG emission inventories.

Ms. Van Pelt's sustainability and climate change experience includes advising U.S. federal agencies, private sector entities, and international development organizations on policies and actions to quantify GHG emissions, plan mitigation activities, and conserve resources.

Ms. Van Pelt supports low emission development strategies (LEDS) in many developing countries, helping to quantify emissions and develop and track the impact of reduction policies. She recently served as a technical working group member and chapter lead for the World Resources Institute (WRI) Greenhouse Gas Protocol's Mitigation Goal Standard, an accounting and reporting standard for national and subnational GHG reduction goals, leading the chapter on designing a mitigation goal.
