Dr. Florence Nyangara

Senior Technical Specialist

Florence Nyangara has more than 17 years of experience in international health and rural development issues. She provides support to private voluntary organizations (PVOs) and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) that implement the U.S. Agency for International Development's (USAID) Child Survival and Health Grants Program under the Maternal and Child Health Integrated Project (MCHIP). Dr. Nyangara provides research and evaluation technical guidance to operations research studies conducted by PVOs/NGOs across Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and Latin America to ensure quality and relevance for program and policy improvement. 

Prior to joining ICF International, Dr. Nyangara was a senior research and evaluation advisor with the Futures Group, MEASURE Evaluation Project. Her work supported the United States Government (USG), Office of Global AIDS Coordinator (OGAC), and USAID Office of HIV/AIDS (OHA) in measurement and evaluation (M&E) technical issues geared toward strengthening the strategic information component for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) programming. Dr. Nyangara has also contributed to valuable publications, M&E tools, and quality improvement of OVC programs and other health programs in Africa. Previously, Dr. Nyangara worked in Kenya as an extension program officer with the Ministry of Agriculture and rural development.

Dr. Nyangara has a Ph.D. in Demography/Rural Sociology, a dual title degree from Pennsylvania State University, and a B.Sc. in Agriculture from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
