Children's Bureau Clearinghouse Services (Child Welfare Information Gateway)

CLIENT: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Administration on Children, Youth, and Families (ACYF), Children’s Bureau (CB)

Since 1990, ICF has operated and managed Child Welfare Information Gateway, the clearinghouse service of the Children’s Bureau (CB). Information Gateway fulfills an integral part of CB’s mission to improve the overall health and well-being of our nation’s children and families. Information Gateway connects child welfare and related professionals, along with the public, to practical, timely and essential information to help protect children and strengthen families.

Child Welfare Information Gateway disseminates information about resources, training, technical assistance, data, and funding for the nation’s professionals who focus on adoption, foster care, child protective services, prevention, and family support. ICF enables the information gateway to be more than a repository for information. Information Gateway is a multifaceted resource incorporating knowledge management and knowledge transfer principles into all aspects of its work. Together, ICF and Information Gateway offer an array of clearinghouse services that includes developing original publications and briefs; vetting and disseminating evidence-based practices, reports, findings and tools; managing a comprehensive website and the nation’s largest child welfare-related library; conducting continuous outreach and audience engagement; and providing information services support.

Child Welfare Information Gateway is a dynamic and ever-evolving knowledge management and dissemination service that fosters relationships with federal organizations, State and local agencies, organizations and other partners to identify and address the emerging trends in child welfare. Information Gateway focuses its strategy on meeting the information needs of its target audience and gathering feedback to sustain continuous quality improvement to support those who work to enhance the lives of children, youth and families.
