Sanjay Chandra joined ICF in 2015. As a renewable energy expert, he provides subject matter expertise in renewable energy and leads clean energy development efforts with ICF's Sustainability Management Services Division. Sanjay’s global experience spans renewable energy, infrastructure, and environmental science and technology, including 10 years in the clean energy industry, working with solar, wind, and other renewable electricity projects.
A well-rounded technical and management professional, Sanjay has worked extensively in domestic and international renewable energy industries, and has performed and led scientific and technical studies, technology-specific market analysis, economic analysis, and global strategy development. Sanjay has specific expertise in solar energy. He led solar project development in India, managed construction of utility-scale solar plants, designed and constructed off-grid systems, and led global initiatives for implementing innovative forms of solar, off-grid micro-hydro, and smart grid technologies in developing countries and remote, under-served locations of Asia, Latin America and Northern Canada. Through his extensive experience, he brings an in-depth knowledge of:
- Project development lifecycle
- Technical document review (performance models, PPAs, EPC contracts)
- Renewable energy auction mechanisms
- Strategic energy planning (demand projections, T&D expansion)
- Preparation of investment-grade documents
- Stakeholder management
- Renewable energy financing
Sanjay has served as Expert Reviewer for US Department of Energy’s SunShot Program, SBIR-STTR Program, Small Business Voucher Program, and for Bonneville Power Administration’s Technology Innovation Assistance Program. He has served as a Volunteer Mentor in CleanTech Open, advising and working with entrepreneur teams in their clean energy ventures.
