Lara Malakoff
Lara provides technical assistance, data analysis, and management support to federal programs that promote thriving communities. These programs include the Office of Community Services Division of Community Discretionary and Demonstration Programs Community and Economic Development and Rural Community Development grants, the Corporation for National and Community Service’s Social Innovation Fund, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Choice Neighborhoods and Moving to Work programs.
Previously, as a member of our broadband team, Lara supported business, economic development, and citizen engagement efforts to facilitate broadband implementation in rural areas of the U.S. She led a broadband economic impact and feasibility study in rural Washington State and provided training and technical assistance to two states—Idaho and Wyoming—under the State Broadband Initiative.
Lara brings a strong focus on precise, user-friendly communication products designed and targeted specifically to the audience. Before joining our organization, Lara was a senior associate for outreach in the National League of Cities’ (NLC) Center for Research and Innovation. In this role, she developed and executed strategies to disseminate publications to NLC’s membership of city leaders and staff and served as a content editor for all research and policy publications developed by the center.
