Jake Berlin

Principal, Distributed Energy Resources
Jake is a distributed grid strategy expert with experience working with utilities, regulators, and government agencies to plan and prepare for the emergence and adoption of new energy technologies.

In his role with our Distributed Grid Strategy team, Jake advances utility planning approaches, designs regulatory strategies, and identifies and develops new customer solutions -- all with an eye towards the energy ecosystem and infrastructure of tomorrow. His clients include a wide array of electric utilities across North America, as well as regulatory bodies and government energy offices. 

Prior to this role, Jake served as the managing partner of the Rethink Energy venture fund, working with emerging software and analytics companies that are pushing forward the future of energy management and technology integration. He also held various positions with the New York Power Authority, including designing and building out a new approach to developing customer solutions, and helped establish Willdan Energy Solutions on the East Coast. Jake also worked to launch the distributed generation start-up Rentricity. He sits on the board of directors of the Center for Humans and Nature and is an advisor to the New York University (NYU) Stern Center for Sustainable Business. Jake holds an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business and a B.A. from Brown University.
