Zimbabwe Mortality Trends Analysis 1996-2015
This report summarizes findings from death registration records from Zimbabwe’s civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) system. The findings include: flow of vital statistics; distribution of deaths by age, sex and place; quality of registration including timing, completeness, coverage. It presents a discussion on mortality declines associated with ART uptake, and recommendations to strengthen the CRVS system and quality of vital statistics. The data source is anonymized records for years 1996 through 2015 that were made available by the Registrar General’s Office. The study was commissioned and coordinated by the Ministry of Health and Child Care and funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
