Everyone has different priorities for their personal well-being. An inclusive team environment. Fulfillment in work and career growth. Benefits that support mind and body health. An inclusive culture. And more.

Our leaders prioritize providing tools, resources, policies, and more to meet those needs, so everyone at ICF can bring their whole selves to work.

And our employees have shared how this approach has impacted them. Here are five reasons why they like working for ICF.

Work your own way

2024 flex jobs remote work

The new world of work is here. As a company that has historically had many remote workers, we took this change in stride. Now, most employees are working either fully remote or on hybrid schedules—with some time in the office and some time fully remote. With 75 offices around the globe, many employees enjoy their in-office time, using it to reconnect with team members in person while also collaborating as part of hybrid teams. Our approach has not gone unnoticed: FlexJobs included ICF on its 10th annual list of the Top 100 Companies to Watch for Remote Jobs.

“In a time when work-life balance is so crucial for health and well-being, I can’t express how appreciative I am to work for a company like ICF that values this equilibrium.”

Find family balance

Whether you're already a parent or planning to be one, we take great care in providing benefits that allow families to be nurtured and grow. For every stage of the journey—including in vitro fertilization, intrauterine insemination, egg freezing, adoption, or surrogacy—our robust family planning benefits provide employees and their families with resources and financial support. We also know working parents need access to resources to support their families before and/or after school, which is why we provide discounts and connection to child care services. And our gender-neutral parental leave policy encourages employees to enjoy time with their new additions.

With these policies in place, we were recognized by Parents@Work as a Best Place to Work for parents.

“The opportunity to take parental leave to focus on the birth of our first-born daughter (in a pandemic!) was priceless. I had the support of the company, my manager and team, and my colleagues. Upon returning, I felt more engaged and connected to my work and our people than ever before!”

Grow with us

We want to make growth attainable and inclusive for everyone, and we also understand that means different things to different people. Growth can mean diving deeper into your specialty or growing your client or project portfolio to apply a new set of skills. We encourage our employees to define what growth means to them and bring this to regular coaching conversations with their managers. There are many learning paths and certifications to pursue. Communities of practice connect people with other experts in areas like project management, facilitation, and technology. And our mentorship program paired more than 700 mentors and mentees in 2022!

My growth at ICF really took place with the help of my colleagues, supervisor, and mentor. Out of all the jobs I have held in my life, my career here has been the most rewarding.”

Support your well-being

We want all our employees to thrive—physically, professionally, emotionally, financially, and socially. When you’re at your best, it impacts how you engage at work, with your family, and the larger community. Be Well, our well-being program through Virgin Pulse, is available to all benefits-eligible employees and their spouses/domestic partners, even if not enrolled in an ICF-offered medical plan. Whether employees want to eat healthier, lose weight, reduce stress, find family support programs, save money, or other areas of boosting their well-being, Be Well helps them achieve their goals while participating in fun company challenges and earning rewards.

And we were recognized by Built In as a Best Place to Work for fostering meaningful employee experiences and our corporate culture.

“As I work through sandwich generation caregiving, I have benefited from my company’s resources, including the discounts at Care.com, where I found “Saint David,” our nickname for my parents' daytime caregiver and de facto house manager.”

Belong to something greater

Regardless of their role, team, or location, our employees have opportunities to make connections, build community, and do work they believe in. We're proud that one in four ICF employees belongs to at least one of our employee community networks. These networks provide a forum to share or support common characteristics, interests, and goals. They offer networking sessions, informal mentoring relationships, and regular discussions with keynote speakers to encourage professional growth and development—all while celebrating our diverse experiences and backgrounds.

For our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, we have been recognized by Forbes as one of America’s Best Employers for Diversity and Women, in addition to one of America’s Best Management Consulting Firms.

“Our employee community networks are an excellent forum to celebrate the diversity among our ICF family, and provide important, safe learning environments for us to grow and learn from each other. It’s our collective appreciation for our differences that contributes to a deeper, more meaningful understanding of ourselves and our clients.”
