Yuan Ren is a technical specialist with more than 10 years of experience in comparative effectiveness cancer research, health surveillance, database management, information technology support, and environmental research. He has experience using a variety of data sources, including vital records, National Death Index, hospital discharge, and Medicare/Medicaid data. Dr. Ren has served as a senior analyst providing support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and he has worked on projects for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Science Foundation (NSF). For CDC’s National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) Cancer Surveillance System (CSS) project, Dr. Ren assists in managing tasks related to data management and statistical product development. He is responsible for leading the data processing team in statistical and programming tasks for internal and external clients, including helping clients analyze data, select the proper analysis tools to implement and optimize the model, and interpret the results. Dr. Ren is experienced in C++, FORTRAN, Microsoft Visual Basic, SAS, SQL, Stata, and TSO.
Dr. Ren has a Ph.D. in Environmental Chemistry from Brigham Young University and an M.S. in Computational Chemistry from the University of Wyoming.
