Bhawana Subedi is a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) specialist and is currently the Lead GESI and LNOB (Leaving No One Behind) thematic area expert for the Sudridh- Nepal Urban Resilience Programme (NURP), funded by DFID as part of DFID Nepal's Disaster Resilience Portfolio.
Bhawana has over 16 years of work experience in the field of gender equality, social inclusion, and protection in both development and humanitarian contexts. With a Master in Sociology and Anthropology focused on Gender and Project Management, Bhawana has worked to conceptualize, design, and orchestrate advocacy campaigns and context-specific programs aimed at transformative changes in diverse settings. These workstreams have largely involved GESI mainstreaming and the development of GESI strategies, gender/protection action plans, GESI and protection training curriculum, women’s economic empowerment programs, evidence-based advocacy campaigns, and community engagement approaches.
Throughout her experience, Bhawana has worked for a variety of international non-profits, international development organizations, and the United Nations. In these capacities, she has been able to develop good relationships with a variety of organizations including bilateral, multilateral, government, and private stakeholders including CSO, WROs, gender working groups, and clusters.
