Ramu Bishwakarma joined ICF in 2014 and has more than 12 years of experience in rural and social development programming and results measurements. He is a Senior Technical Specialist for ICF’s program assessment, development, research and monitoring and evaluation business.
Dr. Bishwakarma’s expertise is mixed method data collection and analyses focusing on rural socio-economic development and food security. At ICF, he has led or assisted several survey and evaluation work (including impact evaluation) for clients such as USAID, IFAD, and DFID. He is highly skilled in poverty analysis, food insecurity analysis, and resilience analysis and also highly familiar in other associated areas such as WASH, Agriculture, Gender, Women’s Health and Nutrition, and Child Health Nutrition. In addition to leading survey and analytical work- both quantitative and qualitative, he leads or supports the development of new businesses and manages projects as required.
Prior to joining ICF, Dr. Bishwakarma was a Senior Specialist at Cardno Emerging Markets Inc., where his portfolio involved with conducting technical analysis and evaluation work in the area of social impact assessments primarily in oil, gas and mining sector in developing countries. Before Cardno, he worked as a research consultant for the World Bank and International Finance Corporation (IFC) in their Washington D.C. offices for four years.
Dr. Bishwakarma has a Ph.D. in Demography/Sociology from the University of Maryland, College Park. He also holds an MA (Sociology) from USA, and an MBA (Organizational Development) from Nepal.
