The impact of COVID-19 on commercial aviation and consumer travel confidence

In late March, many countries around the world began enforcing lockdowns and imposing travel restrictions in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Two months on, much of the world is still in lockdown, and the virus has claimed over 380,000 lives. However, even now, there are signs of recovery.

We captured the views of aviation executives and consumers across the world and spanning all parts of the commercial aviation value chain. This survey repeats some questions from an earlier survey we conducted in late March/early April to chart how sentiment is changing over time. Topics covered in the report include:

  • Industry and consumer views on recovery timeline.
  • How this crisis is impacting passenger behavior.
  • Government and policy responses.
  • Potential impact on sustainability practices.
