Energy Efficiency Policy

Delivering on Potential for Decades

Governments around the world are making energy efficiency a cornerstone of energy and environmental policy. The potential benefits to the public of lower costs, reduced pollution, cleaner energy, and strengthened resiliency are definitive of ICF’s work. Since the 1990s, we have partnered with government, nonprofit, and private clients to help consumers, businesses, and institutions save energy. We have helped develop and deliver initiatives ranging from iconic United States government programs – such as the Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® and the Department of Energy’s Better Buildings® – to local and global efforts, such as the City of Cambridge Building Energy Use Disclosure Ordinance and USAID Energy Efficiency for Clean Development. ICF technical analysis has informed EU energy efficiency standards set for domestic and commercial energy-using products. We provide technical and capacity-building support to energy efficiency policy initiatives around the world.

Our energy consultants, including engineers, environmental scientists, policy analysts, MBAs, and economists, come from throughout the energy industry, all levels of government, manufacturing, retailing, and other industry stakeholders. Their depth of experience in energy and related fields translates to a full range of services for government clients and public-private partnerships, spanning the program lifecycle—from high-level planning, to quantitative modeling, data analytics, and program implementation. Across the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, ICF helps clients incorporate energy efficiency as an innovative means to achieving goals and improving lives.
