The European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) along with the Directorates-General for Energy (DG ENER), Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CNECT), Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW), and Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS) organised the very first EU-Greenland Week, including the first-ever EU-Greenland Business Forum on Energy and Digital Connectivity.

Challenge

The European Commission wanted to gather key stakeholders from Greenland’s government and energy utilities, along with top European renewable energy stakeholders—such as banks, investors, developers, service providers, suppliers, off-takers, and construction firms. The objective was to present Greenland’s strategic priorities and concrete project pipeline, while fostering structured dialogue, targeted networking, and partnerships. This engagement sought to support Greenland’s economic diversification and advance joint EU–Greenland priorities, notably in renewable energy, sustainable raw materials, and digital connectivity in line with the Global Gateway investment approach.

Solution

ICF Next organised an Energy Investment Forum as part of the broader “EU–Greenland Week - Advancing Partnership for a Sustainable Future.” Our team designed this event to address key areas of cooperation, such as digital connectivity and critical raw materials. Our plan included both Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Government (B2G) sessions to connect EU and Greenlandic stakeholders and foster cooperation and business synergies between the two regions.

The programme provided a comprehensive platform for dialogue and engagement across key strategic sectors, bringing together public authorities, private sector representatives, and financial stakeholders from both Greenland and the European Union. Discussions focused on sustainable raw materials, renewable energy, and digital connectivity, while highlighting the mutual benefits of the partnership—supporting Greenland’s economic diversification and contributing to broader European priorities linked to the green and digital transitions.

Results

The event, held on 19 November 2025 in the centre of Brussels, successfully brought together public authorities, private investors, and industry representatives to explore opportunities on sustainable energy investments in Greenland.

The morning featured opening remarks by senior EU and Greenland officials, presentations by the Government of Greenland on its renewable energy strategy and upcoming large-scale hydropower tender, followed by targeted panels. The afternoon focused on the B2B and B2G sessions connecting EU and Greenlandic actors, project developers, industrial off-takers, and financiers. The event fostered dynamic exchanges throughout the day, supported by featured presentations, keynote speeches, a networking lunch, and a closing networking cocktail.
