Are federal agencies ready for AI? Leaders say yes—mostly
AI is changing the game in every industry, but federal agencies have work to do before they feel ready to fully adopt it. Part of this work includes assessing legacy technology infrastructure and its ability to support AI.
In a recent ICF/Wakefield Research survey on AI readiness in the federal space, a total of 74% of responding agency leaders rated their tech infrastructure as an “A” or “B,” showing that leaders are mostly confident when it comes to assessing the capability of their agency's technology infrastructure to support AI solutions.
How would you grade the capability of your agency’s technology infrastructure to support AI solutions?
As the data shows, most leaders feel confident in their agency’s technology infrastructure to support AI solutions. But while infrastructure is essential, it’s only part of the equation. Real success with emerging technologies like AI requires more than just the right tools—it demands adaptive, right-sized governance and clear prioritization to turn potential into lasting impact.
Governance doesn’t have to be heavy, costly, or slow. With a structured yet flexible approach, even complex initiatives can stay on track. That’s why a disciplined, execution-focused mindset is critical to helping organizations align efforts, maintain momentum, and deliver sustainable value.
