About the role

The key to this role is securing new contract relationships with blue chip clients, encompassing lead generation, initial contact and taking of briefs and tender opportunities. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Working with the senior team on the overall business development plan to help execute our growth strategy
  • Proactively sourcing new client opportunities and making the initial contact with these leads
  • Embrace the businesses focus verticals and services and adapt our message to maximise the appeal of ICF Next to target prospects
  • Mapping and developing existing and new accounts
  • Using techniques such as telephone sales and social media to skilfully secure new business appointments
  • Lead first contact, present credentials to new stakeholders over the telephone and attend a percentage of first face-to-face meetings
  • Success will be measured on conversion from outreach to first diarised meetings, to qualified briefs and securing marketing rosters
  • Managing and motivating a team of Business Development Executives
  • Being a trusted advisor to your clients and colleagues at all times
  • Maintaining the Company’s CRM system
  • Providing management information relating to business development activity
  • The role will be predominantly office based but may require attendance at meetings, industry and networking events
  • Drive a smart commercial sales culture in the ICF Next office through your team and also the wider business

Required skills and experience

  • You have great commercial acumen and a track record of successfully developing leads
  • You have exceptional interpersonal skills which have allowed you to build relationships quickly and effectively
  • You are self-assured yet diplomatic, and you can influence and negotiate with tact
  • You are highly organised, with a razor-sharp attention to detail and your superb problem-solving and time management skills allow you to effectively multi-task and manage your workload
  • You are a dynamic, confident individual who enjoys leading by example
  • You are ambitious, committed and willing to develop your career
  • Being a self-motivated team player, you are extremely results-focused and always go the extra mile. You are responsive and flexible when it comes to change and demonstrate flexibility and resilience in any situation
  • A background within a communications/creative services would be advantageous but not essential
