Job Description

ICF is seeking technical editors and writers from senior to junior level to support document and project delivery efforts for a range of environmental projects in the Environment & Planning Division at ICF. The positions are based in California, Oregon, or Washington. Full & Part-time positions available.  

Senior Level Responsibilities & Requirements

The responsibilities of a senior technical editor job entail a wide range of editing, review, and coordination tasks related to the preparation of technical and environmental compliance documents. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Managing large, complex document production projects.
  • Supervising publications staff, as requested by team manager.
  • Supervising support editors and production staff on projects.
  • Editing for organization, style, format, grammar, consistency, and logical coherency.
  • Providing quality control.
  • Reconciling differences in tone and voice from multiple writers.
  • Adapting to rapidly changing circumstances, client needs, and schedules.

Requirements

  • Have 7 to 10 years of experience as an editor or a technical writer.
  • Possess an attention for detail and critical analysis abilities.
  • Demonstrate high level of skill in MS Word.
  • Consulting/environmental experience preferred.
  • BA in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, or related field.

Junior Level Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Editing for organization, style, format, grammar, consistency, and logical coherency.
  • Providing quality control.

  • Adapting to rapidly changing circumstances, client needs, and schedules.

Requirements

  • Experience as an editor or a technical writer.
  • Possess an attention for detail and critical analysis abilities.
  • Demonstrate high level of skill in MS Word.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience as an editor or a technical writer.
  • BA in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, or related field.
  • Consulting/environmental experience preferred
