Robert Tortora is an expert in statistics and methods and has more than 40 years of experience in the federal and commercial sectors. Dr. Tortora previously held the position of chief methodologist of the Gallup World Poll. Prior to that, he was the associate director for Statistical Design, Methodology and Standards at the U.S. Bureau of the Census, where he led all aspects of the design and implementation of the 2000 Census. He was also responsible for statistical and survey methodology for all Census Bureau programs.
Dr. Tortora has a doctorate in Probability and Statistics from Bowling Green State University, a master's degree in Mathematical Statistics from The Catholic University, and a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Youngstown State University. He is an elected Fellow of the American Statistical Association.
