Dr. Ananth Chikkatur

Ananth Chikkatur has more than 10 years of experience in the energy and environmental sector and has worked on several power sector, natural gas, and carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects, including projects for private equity firms, project developers, utilities, governments, and international organizations such as the World Bank (WB), the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), and the European Commission (EC). His interests include energy policy, technology innovation, cleaner power generation technologies, energy efficiency, small-scale/rural energy systems, and climate change.

Dr. Chikkatur has worked on several projects related to natural gas market analysis and infrastructure development. Recently, he has supported private equity firms and project developers on assessing global liquefied natural gas (LNG) markets, pipeline infrastructure, and gas supply in North America for specific merger and acquisition (M&A) decisions. Dr. Chikkatur was instrumental in the development of a "gas master plan" for Mozambique, and he developed an analysis of natural gas demand and helped develop recommendations for the government for the Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

Dr. Chikkatur has supported the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and APEC by leading the secretariat for the voluntary peer review guidelines for fossil fuel subsidy reforms for APEC economies. Dr. Chikkatur has also managed several projects with the EC and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to develop CCS-related guidance documents and related reports. He also supported the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the EC on smart-grid work.

Dr. Chikkatur has a Ph.D. in Physics from the Massachuetts Institute of Technology.
