In this article, ICF expert Venessa Marks discusses the impact of how the people behind effective reentry services are the greatest contribution to the programs being successful.

A bench-marking study took place of high effective reentry programs the received funding from the U.S. Department of Labor that had received funding to provide reentry services to youth and adults.  High performing organizations were then studied to learn what might drive their success in connecting justice-involved youth and adults with training, employment and preventing recidivism.

One of the main findings that each program had in common was its people.  The nature and quality of the staff and participant relationships was a big component to successful programming.  The staff takes on more of a coach or mentor-like role, rather than a case manager.  They are changing the perception and strategy to make these programs more personable for young adults.
