Natural gas utility decarbonization: Rising to the challenges and opportunities

Natural gas utility decarbonization: Rising to the challenges and opportunities
Decarbonization targets, policies, and strategies continue to be discussed and implemented at the state and local level across the country. Natural gas utilities can help educate policymakers and the broader public on the more technical and industry-specific reasons that may point to a continued role for the LDCs in a decarbonized future.

Natural gas utilities can contribute to a lower carbon future and take advantage of the opportunities created by the changing environment, but they will need to take a pro-active approach to carve out their future role. To meet aggressive emission reduction targets, major utility investments will be required to help customers become significantly more efficient and to supply those customers with lower-carbon gas sources.

Hear Washington Gas and ICF discuss how decarbonization is being approached by natural gas utilities looking to enable a lower-carbon future. This webinar explores:
  • The decarbonization approaches being taken by natural gas utilities across North America.
  • Washington Gas’ development of a practical deep decarbonization plan for the District of Columbia that addresses cost, reliability, resiliency and social equity.
