CHP: The Hot New Trend in Utility DG Deployment

Date: Feb 21, 2017
Time: 11:30 AM (Tue) - 12:30 PM (Tue)
Presenters: Anne Hampson, David Jones
Place:

The current drive for increased amounts of distributed generation is opening up opportunities for utilities to be profitably involved in the combined heat and power (CHP) market. Depending on the regulatory structure of the state, utilities can find value in CHP by incorporating CHP programs into their EE program portfolio, or they can become owners and operators of CHP systems at customer sites. As prescriptive EE programs, including lighting measures, motor management and other easily replicable measures begin to saturate the market, it is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve the same level of energy savings through traditional efficiency measures. CHP systems not only offer utilities the ability to meet mandated EE targets or goals, but they also provide significant financial savings opportunities to customers. Several states and utilities are already including CHP in their energy efficiency portfolios, providing incentives for both demand-side and supply-side efficiency improvements.

This webinar will:

  • Outline the benefits that utilities can gain from CHP
  • Describe the target markets where CHP can be deployed
  • Present the opportunity for CHP programs for utilities
  • Describe the benefits that utility ownership of CHP can provide to all utility customers
  • Present case studies of successful utility deployment of CHP
