Session Title: Advancing Energy Resilience Locally through Community Engagement
Date: Thursday, September 8th
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.
ICF Moderator: Robert Kay
Improving energy systems is a core component of California’s adaptation strategy and has tremendous potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create a strong foundation for community resilience. However, if investments and actions are not implemented at the pace required, energy supply, reliability, and infrastructure will be threatened and compromised, which can pose serious local community impacts. The bright side is that local agencies and organizations can take a number of different actions to build energy resilience in their own communities. This session will explore three specific efforts being undertaken in California that leverage strategic partnerships, utilize advanced technology, and engage community members to create robust, resilient, and sustainable energy systems for the benefit of all Californians.
