Dr. Kia Reinis
Senior Specialist, Survey Research

Kia Reinis is a demographer and survey specialist with more than 15 years of experience providing technical assistance to developing countries in all phases of survey implementation, including surveys with biomarker testing (HIV and anemia) and a survey with verbal autopsies of under-five deaths. Dr. Reinis is also a major contributor to Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) standard data collection documents, used in all DHS surveys. She has helped create new tools and approaches for capturing quality health-related data in challenging environments, including participating in designing and implementing the first survey integrating verbal autopsy (Ghana), developing a health expenditures module, and designing an ongoing experiment to test if questions on sexual behavior will elicit more accurate reporting.

Dr. Reinis has a Ph.D. in Sociology from Princeton University.
