Dr. Shani Reid primarily directs the evaluation of education-related programs. She is involved in the various stages of evaluation—from creating plans and designing data collection instruments to data analysis and reporting. Dr. Reid utilizes both quantitative and qualitative methodologies to design and conduct evaluations. Her expertise includes advanced statistical techniques, and she is experienced in the analysis of large databases such as those produced by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).
Dr. Reid moderates focus groups, conducts face-to-face and telephone interviews, and performs classroom observations to gather rich qualitative data to respond to various evaluation questions. A former classroom teacher and college professor, she has conducted evaluations in the areas of teacher professional development, mathematics education, reading, arts education, college and career readiness, online learning, and online learning games. In addition to her work in education, Dr. Reid manages consumer testing and research projects for agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Federal Reserve Board (FRB).
