Lauren North

Lead Disaster Recovery Specialist
Lauren is an expert in disaster management and reporting with more than five years of experience.

Lauren is a disaster management expert with more than five years of experience in reporting and program implementation. She brings a strong background in monitoring, evaluation, and research to our disaster management clients.

Lauren manages a variety of tasks for the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery project—the Puerto Rico Department of Housing’s Repair, Reconstruction, or Relocation Program—including environmental and construction coordination, invoicing, and reporting. She also works closely with our GrantTrax experts to create tracking and forecasting tools for project use.

Lauren was instrumental in developing two mitigation needs assessments for Community Development Block Grant Mitigation action plans, where she summarized historical disaster event data to inform the selection of mitigation priorities. She also conducted a spatial analysis of past disaster impacts with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) social vulnerability metrics to identify intersections between social vulnerability and future disaster risk.

Before joining our disaster management team, Lauren worked on our public health team, supporting the CDC and other public and private sector clients. She also volunteered in the Peace Corps, serving in Paraguay from 2011 to 2014.

Lauren has a master’s degree in development practice from Emory University and a bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University.
