Prasanna Rao

Prasanna is an energy expert with more than two decades of diverse experience helping clients prepare for and adapt to changing markets, technology, and policy conditions. He focuses on energy markets, project/program development and management, risk management, and advisory services for capital projects in the energy, power, and chemicals industries.

Prasanna leads the gas markets team across the U.S., Canada, and India. He provides clients with accurate and thorough data and insights on supply, demand, and pricing so that they stay up-to-date and informed on evolving market trends in the natural gas industry. Under his leadership, the gas markets team supports natural gas and electric utilities, power producers, financial institutions, numerous fuel transportation and distribution companies, and many federal, state, regional, and local government organizations and agencies.

Earlier in his career, Prasanna focused on natural gas liquids (NGLs) and delivered market analysis for technical, commercial, and midstream sector clients. He also provided technical advisory and due diligence services for natural gas, NGLs, crude oil, and liquefied natural gas projects and assets. Additionally, Prasanna delivered capital project and program management advisory services to power, energy, chemicals, and renewables sectors. In other roles, he supported gasification technology applications for syngas and hydrogen production, and worked on engineering studies and process design packages for biofuels.

Prasanna earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Nagpur University and a master’s in environmental engineering from Texas Tech University. He went on to earn two more master’s degrees, one in chemical engineering and another in finance and international business administration from the University of Cincinnati. Prasanna is a licensed Professional Engineer, a certified Project Management Professional, and a Six Sigma Global Institute certified Green Belt.
