ICF implements The Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) Program, which has provided technical assistance to more than 300 surveys in 90+ countries. The DHS Program has earned a worldwide reputation for collecting and disseminating accurate, nationally representative data on fertility, family planning, maternal and child health, gender, HIV/AIDS, malaria, and nutrition.

The DHS Program provides capacity strengthening to host-country implementing agencies through all survey stages, including survey design and sampling, training, field work, data tabulation and analysis, report writing, and dissemination and use of findings. The DHS Program implements multiple surveys, including:

  • Demographic and Health Survey
  • Malaria Indicator Survey
  • Service Provision Assessment Survey

Surveys usually include GPS data collection and use of biomarkers to measure objective health conditions such as anemia, height/weight, and HIV prevalence.

The DHS Program website provides free resources, including all survey reports, further analysis publications, methodological information, and access to data visualization tools such as the STATcompiler.
