ICF is currently seeking an Urban Planner to work within our Survey, Policy, Health, Environment, Regulation, and Economics (SPHERE) team. If successful, you will support the EPA’s Office of Brownfields and Land Revitalization (OBLR) in their efforts to help communities, states, tribes, and other stakeholders to assess, safely clean up, and sustainably reuse contaminated properties. This is a great position for a mid-level professional who will join our team in Cambridge, MA or Fairfax, VA.

What you’ll do:
Apply academic and past work experience/knowledge to a wide range of technical assistance projects.
Lead development of site reuse strategies, conceptual reuse alternatives, and site plans covering a broad range of reuse scenarios including mixed use, housing, open space, renewable energy, and infill development.
Lead research, data collection, and quantitative data analysis in support of a broad range of site redevelopment projects and lead the preparation of a wide range of client work products.
Lead a wide range of stakeholder outreach and engagement activities including in-person and virtual community engagement (e.g., charettes, workshops, meetings, etc.) and the development of associated outreach and communication materials.
Support development of planning level construction cost estimates and development pro formas, as needed.
Interact directly with federal, state, and local clients, creating and maintaining successful and professional work relationships.
What you’ll need:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in urban planning, urban design, landscape architecture, environmental planning, or related technical field.
A minimum of 8-10 years of progressively responsible and applicable experience supporting technically-oriented projects in community revitalization and economic development areas, with priority on brownfields site redevelopment or other related infill development.
Understanding of current planning and policy trends related to land use planning, community and economic development, real estate, environmental justice, climate change and adaptation strategies, and affordable housing.
Knowledge of funding and financing, including tools, mechanisms, and programs that incentivize the redevelopment of contaminated properties is preferred.
Professional skills and experience were looking for:
Team oriented individual with a “can-do” spirit who is adaptable to learning new topics and capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated experience in conducting in-person and virtual community engagement.
Willingness to travel, as needed.
Proficient in conducting quantitative analyses using Microsoft Access and Excel, and spatial analysis using GIS.
Broad experience in Adobe Creative Suite and 3-D rendering software (CAD, Rhino, Sketchup) is desirable.
