Transportation Energy Consultant
Location: California (preferred); other locations may be considered
ICF is seeking a Transportation Energy Consultant to lead and support projects related to emission reduction, decarbonization, vehicle electrification, alternative fuels, and advanced technologies in the transportation sector. Work may include analysis of strategies to reduce emissions from a variety of transportation sources, analysis of the costs and benefits of advanced vehicle technologies and alternative transportation fuels, development of policy and program recommendations to support accelerated deployment of electric vehicles, research on industry trends, report writing, and presentations.
Existing knowledge of and experience working with government transportation sector emission reduction and/or decarbonization programs is essential. The successful candidate will also have experience in one or more of the following areas:
Technology feasibility assessment
Fleet electrification studies
Greenhouse gas emission reduction strategies
Fuel supply and demand analysis
Government clean vehicles and fuels incentive programs
Leading or supporting analyses of strategies and scenarios to reduce transportation sector greenhouse gas and criteria pollutant emissions.
Leading or supporting transportation electrification planning studies for government and utility clients.
Developing and analyzing forecasts of electric vehicle sales and market penetration.
Developing and analyzing forecasts of the use of conventional and alternative fuels in the transportation sector.
Analyzing locations for electric vehicle charging infrastructure and/or stations for alternative fuels.
Staying current and connected with the electric and alternative fuel vehicle market, including trends, policies, key players, and more.
Leading or supporting the development and deployment of communications, outreach, and training resources, including case studies, webinars, in-person events, presentations, and other opportunities.
Interacting with clients.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in transportation, environmental studies, energy, public policy, or a similar field.
3+ years’ work experience in clean transportation, beyond graduate school work.
Foundational knowledge in transportation electrification and alternative fuels, including vehicle technologies and charging infrastructure.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under strict deadlines.
Flexibility and sound business ethics.
