Technical Writer-Remote

 ICF’s IT Modernization division is a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial, technology department, seeking an Appian Developer. Our team is a leading provider of Digital Transformation services for Federal agencies. Our services focus on enabling agency mission and business transformation using industry-leading low-code platforms, mobile applications, robotics process automation, and data analytics platforms. We are partnered with some of the world’s leading and most innovative companies like Salesforce, ServiceNow, Microsoft, and UiPath. We focus on offering a full range of architecture and planning, system implementation, integration, analytics, and O&M for our customers. 

We are currently hiring a Technical Writer to produce high-quality documentation, training material, and communication deliverables that contribute to the overall success of our projects. The candidate will work collaboratively with customers, managers, and business analysts to ensure high-quality reports, end-user documentation, policy, and standards are produced. The candidate must possess superb writing and editing skills across various communication channels. Will contribute to new content by creating strategic responses. Will demonstrate the ability and desire to understand new technologies in a changing environment as well as possess keen analytical and problem-solving thinking; resilience in the face of challenges, flexibility with changing goals, excellent time management skills, and, above all, an enthusiastic personality.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Project Managers to create professional project deliverable documents, such as status reports, User Guides and Requirements documentation
  • Work with Customers to engage and create professional deliverables - emails, bulletins, release notes and presentations to communicate change management to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Gather requirements and content by interviewing subject matter experts, reviewing existing documentation and by gleaning information from the system or product being documented
  • Design and write documentation on selected applications. Ensures all documentation is delivered according to specified guidelines. Proofreads documents for accuracy. Work with technical resources to improve document quality and usability. May participate in design and navigation sessions. Track and correct documentation defects.
  • Working with Team members and customers collaboratively, develop and support a document library around the systems in use.

Requirements:

  • 1+ year technical writing experience
  • Technical Communication Certificate and/or Scrum Master certification, preferred
  • Understanding of industry publishing tools such as Adobe Writer/Reader, SnagIt and interactive training toolsets, Experience with managing change management initiatives is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively and in terms that can be understood by all parties involved
  • Quality Hawk - Adhere to quality principles (responsive, accurate, concise, strategic), style guide, and other criteria for compelling and consistent messaging and attention to details
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and Strong grammatical skills
  • Experience working in Agile Teams a plus
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in English or fine arts or equivalent years of experience in relevant areas
