Sr. Manager- Central Engineering

This position can be remote.

As ICF continues to expand our commercial energy business, we’re looking for an Sr. Manager- Central Engineering to focus on operational efficiencies to maximize performance; engineering staff development and training; and strategic insight and technical guidance for our utility-sponsored programs. In collaboration with regional leaders and program managers, you will be responsible for our overall engineering support to utility clients across North America, primarily focused on distributed energy resources. In addition, you will manage, develop, and mentor a team of in-house and subcontracted project engineers. You will report to our Senior Vice President focused on centralized services for our commercial energy business.

As the Sr. Manager- Central Engineering, you will:

  • Lead and evolve our centralized energy engineering services, including strategy, staffing plans, quality assurance, and operational efficiencies.

  • Collaborate with multi-functional project teams to ensure timely and professional completion of all tasks to achieve program goals and objectives. Tasks completed by your team will include program design, technical review and support for complex measures, and quality assurance efforts.

  • Coordinate and oversee continuous improvement efforts to maximize program performance and reduce operating costs.

  • Manage process to track federal and local energy standards, emerging technologies, and market changes to understand and share potential impacts to/opportunities for utility programs.

  • Manage, mentor, and be a technical resource for a team of project engineers who are located in the US and Canada.

  • Support business development, thought leadership, and other growth opportunities as well as any strategic engineering initiatives/investments. 

  • Build and maintain relationships with engineering and technical subcontractors and other stakeholders.

  • Support our energy analytics team with program design; potential study; and evaluation, measurement, and verification report efforts.

As the Sr. Manager- Central Engineering, you will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar from an accredited institution. Preferred: Master’s degree in business administration, engineering, or similar.

  • 8+ years of experience managing engineering or technical teams.

  • Experience developing and managing energy programs. Preferred: Experience preparing and reviewing technical specifications and engineering calculations in the residential, commercial, and industrial markets. Experience with energy auditing and energy modeling (Trane Trace, eQuest, Energy Plus, etc.).

  • Ability to establish influential partnerships at all levels, inside and outside of ICF.

  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement and quality assurance/control theories, techniques, and application.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbal, with various levels of leadership.

  • Strong people management skills.

  • Preferred: Knowledge of energy code standards (IECC, ASHRAE, IgCC, etc.).
