Senior Scrum Master

ICF Next’s Participation Experience & Technology (PE&T) division is a rapidly growing marketing services and technology team seeking a Scrum Master/Agile Team Lead to support our Tally® Agile Release Train (ART). Tally® is ICF Next’s proprietary customer loyalty and CRM platform.  We use the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) for Tally product development. The Scrum Master is responsible for leading one or more agile teams within the ART, coaching teams on agile principles, growing self-organizing/self-managing teams, participating in ART level agile ceremonies, facilitating team level agile ceremonies, and removing team impediments. You will work closely with the Release Train Engineer (RTE) and other Scrum Masters/Agile Team Leads in support of the Tally ART.  You will also coordinate with Product Management, Product Owners, Business Owners, and other internal business and technology stakeholders within PE&T. This position is within the context of an Agile Release Train employing SAFe. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate agile ceremonies: daily scrum, backlog grooming, iteration planning, iteration review, and retrospectives
  • Participate in ART level ceremonies: Product Increment (PI) Planning, Inspect and Adapt, Scrum of Scrums
  • Coordinate with the RTE, other agile teams, Product Management, and Business Owners to support teams with identifying, tracking, and resolving dependencies and issues
  • Help build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or judgment
  • Support and educate the team on agile values, principles, and frameworks as well as foster a growth mind-set on the team
  • Prepare, analyze and share metrics and reports related to team burndown, velocity and work carry over
  • Help teams deliver upon PI commitments and other deliverables
  • Identify and address impediments and raise awareness to Product Management and RTE for any risks/issues

Required Skills and Experience

  • 3 or more years of work experience as a scrum master or agile team lead with the objective of building self-organizing teams
  • Experience and comfort in leading agile projects (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and working knowledge of scaled agile methodologies (e.g., SAFe).
  • Specialized knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) frameworks used to manage risks and issues unique to complex technology projects
  • Excellent facilitation, communication (written and verbal), and negotiation skills
  • Ability to communicate difficult sensitive information tactfully
  • Experience with issue tracking and task management tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Ability to balance and prioritize to meet goals, deliverables, and deadlines
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and product management skills
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM)

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of work experience as a scrum master
  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) principles and ceremonies
  • Experience with automated testing
  • Experience working with remote teams
