Senior Energy Engineer

Senior Energy Engineer - Energy Efficiency Programs Location: Remote California

ICF is growing its energy program implementation team to support new and existing contracts in the region. Our clients include energy utilities, recognizable Fortune 500 corporations, and a variety of Federal, State, and local governmental agencies. We are seeking an experienced Senior Energy Engineer to be part of two multi-year agricultural energy efficiency programs in California.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop methodologies for quantifying prescriptive (“deemed”) measures
  • Work with stakeholders to identify measure needs and requirements.
  • Perform or utilize market and/or technical studies to justify baseline and measure cases
  • Perform analysis to document measure cost effectiveness parameters
  • Utilize calculational tools and/or energy models to generate savings estimates.
  • Write detailed reports documenting existing conditions, proposed measures and other cost effectiveness parameters. 
  • Manage work on multiple technically detailed projects.

What we need you to have (minimum qualifications): 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences or related degree
  • 3+ years developing workpapers (Measure Packages) for California Energy Efficiency programs
  • 8+ years of experienced in performing engineering calculations related to energy efficiency for one or more end uses including HVAC, lighting, pumping, water heating, plug loads, process heating and process cooling 

What we would like you to have:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences
  • Professional Engineer License 
  • 1+ year(s) experience with using the eTRM 
  • Demonstrated familiarity with California deemed and custom project requirements 
  • Demonstrated familiarity with California energy regulatory policy including CPUC funded efficiency programs and building/equipment energy codes including Title 20 and Title 24 
  • Demonstrated experience with lighting system calculations and technologies in applications ranging from CEA to residential applications
  • Demonstrated experience with whole building energy modeling including Energy Plus and eQuest
  • Familiarity with both electric and natural gas end use equipment
  • Demonstrated familiarity writing and executing M&V plans to document baseline and measure case conditions
  • Demonstrated experience with electrification, DR and/or NMEC
  • CEM certification 
  • Prior participation in a statewide or regional working group related to deemed measures, custom projects, NMEC, etc

  • Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as clients and vendors. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Project, Access, Outlook, Excel) 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

$111,257.00 - $189,137.00
