Senior Energy and Sustainability Specialist (Open)

ICF is seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated candidate to help government clients implement and evolve their energy efficiency, decarbonization, and sustainability programs. This position will be based in our Fairfax, VA office. Successful candidates will support the implementation of high-profile public-private partnership programs to drive energy efficiency and emissions reductions across commercial, multifamily, institutional, and industrial markets. They will be part of a team that builds and maintains relationships with key market actors, reviews and analyzes energy and water consumption data, develops marketing material that recognizes market leadership, and collaborates with other team members and clients to develop national and regional strategies to increase participation in energy and decarbonization programs.
Responsibilities
Leading the execution of government clean energy research, development, and deployment (RD&D) programs, especially for building and advanced manufacturing technologies
Providing technical assistance to assist the energy development needs of a variety of program stakeholders (e.g., private companies and local communities)
Supporting all phases of government program or project management, from project inception to closeout
Supporting the management and review of program scope, budgets, financial reports, and schedules
Conducting technical, energy, environmental, and economic benefits analyses
Performing market and technology assessments
Synthesizing and analyzing data and models related to energy technologies and trends
Synthesizing and analyzing technology R&D project and program information
Developing technical communications (reports, white papers, fact sheets, research summaries, briefings)
Preparing, reviewing, and analyzing technical reports and assessments
Conducting internet and literature research
Engaging and communicating with internal and external program stakeholder groups, including understanding stakeholder group needs, priorities, and issues
Conducting research and analysis of energy efficiency, electrification, renewable energy, and decarbonization programs and policies
Minimum Qualifications
Education background of a:
Bachelor’s degree in science, integrated science and technology, engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience in Energy and Sustainability; or
Master’s degree in science, integrated science and technology, engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in Energy and Sustainability; or
PhD degree in science, integrated science and technology, engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience in Energy and Sustainability.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced analytical and Excel skills
Experience working in support of U.S. government clean energy programs
Experience working in sustainability and clean energy
Preferred Skills/Experience
Demonstrated experience in energy analysis or consulting
Experience working with U.S. federal government agencies
Experience providing technical support to U.S. energy research and development programs
Experience in energy performance benchmarking or energy modeling.
Experience with greenhouse gas inventory calculations
Demonstrated expertise working with large spreadsheets

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:
$68,325.00 - $116,152.00
