ICF is hiring seasoned and technically accomplished Senior Ecology Managers to join our Natural Resources Team. You will be able to apply a wide range of experience and demonstrated capabilities in the daily management of the Team and complex projects across multiple ecological disciplines, markets, geographies, and regulatory platforms. You will manage a Team of accomplished conservation planners, terrestrial and aquatic ecologists, restoration ecologists, and regulatory specialists. You will oversee and support the preparation of technical documents including T/E survey reports, Biological Assessments, management plans, and resource inventories for Habitat Conservation Plans, permitting requirements, and NEPA documents. You will support the growth and development of our team as a technical leader, mentor to junior staff, and principal contributor to business development activities. You will work with clients, technical experts, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to successfully deliver projects on-time and under budget. You will work with ICF Natural Resource team members across the country, maintaining working relationships with infrequent face-to-face contact and be willing to undertake periodic short-term travel to sometimes relatively remote locations.
Positions are available in Louisville, KY, and Atlanta, GA, offices, however remote and hybrid arrangements will be considered.
What You Will Do
Leading biological and/or regulatory project teams and staff, including subconsultants, on project tasks, including field surveys, agency coordination, and report and deliverable preparation.
Managing all aspects of a project including client contact, agency coordination, budget control, invoicing, schedule, personnel allocation/planning, technical approach, and subcontractor involvement.
Leading regulatory and natural resource agency coordination and consultation efforts as required under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
Writing technical reports and public environmental documents.
Performing QA/QC review of project documents, reports, presentations, technical memorandums, and other work products with a focus on technical adequacy, regulatory compliance, and client-specific requirements.
Participating in business development. Build relationships with clients and substantially contribute to business development in natural resource planning throughout the eastern United States. Support business development activities including proposal preparation, interview participation, and strategic business planning.
Providing mentoring and training to staff in all aspects of the position, including but not limited to technical expertise, project, and client management skills, writing, business development and other consulting-specific skills.

What You Must Have
BS in biology, ecology, conservation biology, environmental science or related discipline.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in the field completing species surveys, vegetation mapping, site analysis, habitat assessments, and similar technical qualifications that demonstrates a strong knowledge and technical competence of regional biological resources.
Minimum of 8 years of experience managing or leading staff in ecological or regulatory projects.
Minimum of 8 years of project or task order management for ecological or regulatory projects.
Detailed knowledge and demonstrated experience with ESA Section 10/7, conservation planning, Biological Assessment preparation, agency coordination, and scientifically sound assessment of project effects.
Competitive proposal writing.
A well-developed industry network with private/public sector clients and regulatory agencies.
Strong business development acumen and an understanding of the market and an ability to identify and effectively position for and capture new project work for ICF.
Must have valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
What We’d Like You to Have
MS/PhD in biology, ecology, conservation biology, environmental science or related discipline.
Demonstrated experience with specialty natural resource requirements applicable to transportation, renewable energy, and/or federal markets.
The ability to contribute across disciplines that may include, but is not limited to, NEPA, restoration ecology, and climate resiliency planning.
10(a)(1)(A) USFWS recovery permits in one or more regional aquatic and or terrestrial faunal groups.
Experience with Waters and Wetlands Jurisdictional Determinations.
