We’re currently hiring for a Senior Content Strategist.
You’re a creative, strategic thinker who is passionate about digital technology, and you’re ready to tackle some of society’s greatest challenges. Do you want the opportunity to lead an enterprise-level public health web strategy? If so, you’re going to love this job.
This role will provide content strategy and information architecture (IA) guidance for a federal digital project as the lead voice for content strategy working alongside other strategists. The role will initially support a project in the education space and may support other federal and commercial clients over time. The Senior Content Strategist will be part of an Experience Practice that serves many ICF divisions and customers. As such, this role will have access to other digital strategy resources for mentoring, professional development, and community. This role focuses on content strategy and architecture that informs UX design and web development and improves the user experience. It is not a content development/copywriting role (though assessing and editing web content for Plain Language is part of the work).
As a Senior Content Strategist, you will:
Own the full web content strategy process across a multi-year contract and a large ecosystem of interconnected websites or resource libraries.
Establish and execute plans for content and taxonomy governance and maintenance that include in-depth audits as well as ongoing assessments and enhancements.
Document content specifications and requirements that comply with the 21st Century Integrated Digital Experience Act (IDEA) and the Section 508 Amendment to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
Support user experience (UX) and graphic design efforts through a content-first strategic approach, including reviewing wireframes, mock-ups, and other design deliverables (you will not be required to produce design artifacts)
Collaborate with analytics specialists to determine meaningful key performance indicators (KPIs), using data to drive your content strategy and IA recommendations
Present recommendations in a clear, concise way that empowers decision-makers
Gather requirements from client stakeholders alongside user needs
Develop a deep level of understanding of the content structure across the content management system (CMS), and provide recommendations to improve consistency
Leverage structured and dynamic content capabilities within Drupal (or other CMS or authoring platform) and coordinate with developers on IA solutions
Work within an Agile (e.g., Kanban or Scrum) framework
As a Senior Content Strategist, you will have:
Bachelor’s degree in Communication or a related field
5+ years’ experience in Content Strategy or IA
Experience developing content governance plans
Understanding of on-page search engine optimization (SEO) tactics, including knowledge of writing effective metadata
Understanding of developing effective taxonomies and applying them to searchable facets for CMS records
Experience with content-related stakeholder and user testing such as card sorts and tree tests
Special consideration will be given to candidates with federal or similar web experience, or with sites that host libraries of resources for end users
A suitability process may be required for positions supporting federal customers, and employment will be contingent upon the favorable outcome of the suitability/badge process. Depending on your role and project assignment, you may receive a request to submit a federal SF85P Questionnaire for Public Trust Positions and a fingerprint card for processing via the electronic questionnaires for investigation processing (e-QIP) system either immediately upon employment or later as project assignments change. The employee must complete the e-QIP application and return per the instructions within 4 days of receipt.
Job Location(s): This is a remote position open to all U.S. citizens.
