Risk Management Director (Hybrid)
Job Description:
The Risk Management Director is a highly visible and important member of ICF’s Treasury and Risk Management Department. As a “working” Director, under the direction of the Treasurer, you will be the sole provider of risk management and insurance support at ICF.
You will be responsible for designing and implementing risk management processes, primarily through placing and managing a variety of insurance programs to minimize the impact of risks to our global enterprise. You will collaborate with senior management on insurance strategy formulation and enterprise risk management; business sector leaders on risk identification and implementation of risk mitigation practices; and insurance brokers / providers on selecting, designing, and purchasing appropriate programs. You will also work closely with various groups across the company, including Operations, Accounting, Legal, Facilities, HR, and IT, as well as with people outside of ICF, e.g., brokers, lawyers, and government agencies.
Our corporate insurance program involves all non-benefit related insurance on a global basis. These lines of coverage include general liability & property, foreign liability & property, umbrella, crime, BTA/BTM workers compensation, employment practices, fiduciary liability, special crime, errors & emissions, directors & officers, environmental, and other special insurance.
Key Activities (%):
50%: Identifying and mitigation of risks, including reviewing proposals and contracts for treasury and insurance matters as required by the company’s approval authority matrix. Providing Certificates of Insurance and educating ICF employees on minimizing risk.
30%: Interacting with insurance brokers, preparing applications for insurance renewals, and handling insurance claims.
20%: Special insurance projects, cross training with the rest of the department, and other treasury projects as needed.
Responsibilities:
Create processes that identify risk and develop programs to mitigate or fund risk in accordance with the corporate risk philosophy as articulated by senior management
Support annual enterprise risk program (managed by ICF’s internal Audit department)
Design, implement, and manage cost effective insurance programs, based on corporate risk appetite, to transfer and fund risk
Develop and foster relationships with insurance companies and service vendors to assure access to, and acceptable administration of, insurance programs
Support contracts / subcontracts staff on various ICF projects and divisions with the review of contract activities that create risks and advise line and corporate management of the financial exposure and recommend appropriate risk mitigation techniques
Maintain ICF compliance, reporting and payments with Monopolistic (US) and Provincial (Canada) jurisdictions
Be the main POC for all claims and continually oversee activities, direction, and litigation
Provide and maintain COI’s and Insurance Reviews and Non- Standard Approvals for contracts
Perform risk and loss control analysis, and identify areas for improvement
Conduct M&A insurance and risk management due diligence and integration activities
Manage and update risk management departmental budget, forecasting, and finance options and payments
Work in conjunction with Health & Safety, Legal and HR to develop multiple internal ICF work policies for distribution and informational purposes
Maintain confidential and accurate records
Basic Qualifications:
10+ years of experience working in a corporate risk management department, or related insurance industry experience
Knowledge of contracts / subcontracts, insurance policies, loss control management, and claims administration procedures
Familiar with insurance strategy development and implementation of industry best practices
Bachelor’s degree, or years of experience in lieu of.
Professional / Preferred Skills:
Ability to multi-task and provides responses as per SLA’s, i.e., 48-hours
Effective communication, organizational and analytical skills, and leadership capabilities
Ability to work independently in a fast paced and sometimes demanding environment
Proactive in seeking solutions and the ability to manage multiple changing priorities
Proficient in the MS Office suite

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is
$151,786.00 - $258,036.00
