Research Assistant - Substance Abuse - REMOTE

ICF's Youth & Adult Education Portfolio is currently seeking a Research Assistant to support community coalition and education research and evaluation project tasks. Clients include federal and state education agencies, colleges and universities, and private companies. As a Research Assistant, you will apply your academic knowledge to major projects related to research, evaluation, and technical with particular emphasis on community coalitions working to prevent and reduce youth substance use, as well as potential other projects in K-12 and adult education. You will be heavily involved in technical assistance communication tasks, survey review, literature reviews and developing/supporting presentations, as well as other tasks as required.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Research Assistant, you will be responsible for collaborating with teams of researchers and evaluation technical assistance experts. Key tasks may include:

  • Providing help desk technical assistance (phone and email) regarding progress report data collection and submission to community coalitions throughout the United States and its territories
  • Supporting development and delivery of technical assistance webinar
  • Assisting in developing and preparing eblasts, tip sheets, and user guides, or other deliverables
  • Reviewing surveys for alignment with project core measures
  • Supporting data collection and analysis activities

Additional areas of responsibility may include:

  • Supporting development and testing of the progress report data entry system, including testing potential bugs identified during technical assistance calls
  • Delivery of eblasts to appropriate recipients using Constant Contact
  • Designing feedback surveys and summarizing survey responses
  • Supporting qualitative data collection (one-on-one interviews and focus groups) through notetaking and summary reports
  • Supporting occasional observations and site visits either virtually or in-person to locations nationwide
  • Supporting literature reviews and development of issue briefs

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Health, Public Policy, Social Science or related discipline required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Candidates should have a basic understanding of research/evaluation data collection and maintain positive relationships with clients, grant recipients
  • US citizenship required as per federal contracts
  • Successful candidate must be able to pass background screening and drug testing

  • Interest in key topics in community and education reform, including substance abuse prevention and community coalition building
  • Commitment to applying equity-minded technical assistance and research and evaluation practices.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail required
