Research Analyst – Youth & Adult Education-Remote

ICF's Youth & Adult Education Portfolio is currently seeking a Research Analyst to support education research and evaluation project tasks. Clients include federal, state, and local government agencies, non-profit organizations, and colleges and universities. As a Research Analyst, you will apply your knowledge and experience and gain exposure to major projects related to research, evaluation, and technical assistance. You will be involved in development of data collection instruments, survey administration, interviews and focus groups, data synthesis and analysis, writing reports, literature reviews, data visualization, evaluation technical assistance, and other tasks as required.

The position is full-time remote.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Research Analyst, you will be responsible for the collection, analysis, and reporting of data through surveys, focus groups, one-on-one interviews, virtual and on-site visits, and administrative data. Research Analysts will immediately assume active roles on project teams and will quickly gain responsibility commensurate with their success in the position. Candidates must be able to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines; be well-versed in research/evaluation strategies, methodologies, and analytic approaches; have excellent written and verbal communication skills; be able to maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues; and play an integral role in proposal development.

Areas of responsibility may include:

  • Working with a team to formulate research study designs and evaluation plans.
  • Drafting content for research proposals and technical reports and delivering presentations for a variety of audiences.
  • Designing and conducting surveys.
  • Conducting one-on-one interviews and focus groups, as well as supporting with recruitment, logistics, note-taking, and reporting.
  • Conducting occasional observations and site visits either virtually or in-person to locations nationwide.
  • Analyzing and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Creating data visualizations and supporting staff use of data.
  • Developing literature reviews and writing research briefs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Policy, Social Science, or related discipline. (Master’s degree preferred.)
  • 2+ years of experience conducting qualitative and/or quantitative data collection, research analysis, or evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience in producing high-quality, professionally-written products.
  • Strong interest in topics such as K-12 education, postsecondary education/training, financial education, and youth and adult financial literacy.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for face-to-face interviews or site visits.
  • Strong ability to multi-task.
  • Commitment to applying equity-minded research and evaluation practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel, as well as Teams

Preferred Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Public Policy, Social Science, or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of K-20 and/or adult education in the United States.
  • Experience applying analytic skills in a working environment (such as merging, cleaning, manipulating datasets).
  • Experience supporting or conducting interviews and focus groups with different audiences, remotely and in person.
  • Prior work experience in a consulting environment.
  • Experience developing online surveys and using survey software such as Qualtrics
  • Experience using analytical packages such as SPSS, SAS, Dedoose, or NVivo.
  • Experience conducting qualitative analysis using software such as Dedoose, NVivo, or Atlas.ti
  • Excellent verbal, oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills, including experience with developing and delivering presentations.
  • Strong team player with the ability to take initiative and work well independently.
  • Superior attention to detail, including the ability to meticulously check data and instruments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced, changing environment while meeting stringent deadlines.
