Our Regulatory, Policy & Economics (RPE) practice is always looking for experienced public policy specialists to join its team, supporting the design, implementation, and improvement of federal programs.
RPE's multidisciplinary team of regulatory specialists, policy analysts, economists, and attorneys combines legal, policy, economic, and scientific research and analysis to solve unique public policy challenges through innovative, accurate, timely, and high-quality products and services. Our dynamic work environment involves working on multiple projects simultaneously, supporting a wide range of clients, and providing a wide range of support services for a variety of Federal clients.
Job Responsibilities:
We are always seeking experienced Regulatory Policy Specialists to conduct applied research and provide consulting services in support of national-level programs and policies, in the areas of environmental and resource management issues, transportation, nutrition, food/drug safety, immigration, workforce development, among others.
Positions will be based at our offices in Fairfax, VA in a hybrid work arrangement, with flexibility for remote work.
What you will do:
As a Regulatory Policy Specialist, you will participate in short- and long-term engagements, supporting federal clients responsible for developing policies and crafting regulations that implement a desired policy, explain the rationale of the rulemaking to interested parties; and implement regulatory requirements. Specific duties include:
- Supporting federal agency efforts to transparently manage and analyze public comments received on proposed agency rules.
- Drafting and editing federal agency rulemaking documents.
- Synthesizing information from rulemaking documents, literature and other technical reports.
- Providing verbal and written progress updates to project staff.
- Developing recommendations, and drafting reports and presentations.
- Interacting with clients to understand and manage expectations and foster long-term client relationships.
What you must have (minimum qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, or a related field plus min. 5 years of related work experience in a professional services firm or related environment; OR
- Experience in technical writing and editing, as well as report production
- Experience managing discrete tasks and small teams of staff to work toward a milestone or deliverable.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- U.S. Citizenship is required per federal contracts
- Ability to obtain and maintain a moderate-level government security clearance
