Federal Health Communications Project Director

ICF is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Project Director to oversee a large-scale federal communications portfolio for the Department of Health & Human Services’ Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy.  As the communications lead you are a creative, solution-oriented collaborator with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders to shape the brand and priorities of the client. You will be responsible for overseeing an expansive portfolio of products and services, including:

  • Establish and maintain a mission and vision for communications efforts and provide oversight of all project tasks.
  • Collaborate with Federal agency partners and stakeholders to effectively commence project operations, as well as establish and maintain mission and vision for the project.
  • Project quality including staff performance, reports, and deliverables.
  • Supervise and coach members of the project team.
  • Monitor staff utilization and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Strategic marketing plan development; marketing campaign development and implementation for new initiatives.
  • Communications strategy development and stakeholder engagement, to conceptualize and implement effective communications strategies to improve content, increase engagement and streamline properties.
  • Oversee our creative material development including writing and editing reports, toolkits, video scripts, blogs, newsletters, marketing materials, web copy, as well as graphic design for printed materials, social media, exhibits and displays, multi-media presentations and video products.
  • Web design and content development for multiple program areas.
  • Printing and production support for electronic and/or hard copy deliverables, which conform to the standards of the federal client.
  • Operational planning and program support, overseeing and monitoring project costs as well as contract financial performance.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Demonstrated communication /marketing experience working within infectious disease and HIV/AIDS policy, including vaccines;
  • 12+ years developing and overseeing multi-faceted communications/marketing initiatives.
  • 12+ years of experience managing multi-million-dollar government communications/marketing projects.
  • Proven success in building and sustaining partnerships with a wide-range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain government security clearance.

  • Preferably has experience working with or for government clients, or experience working in a PR agency or similar communication setting.
  • Pushes the communications, marketing and digital world forward, using technology and creativity.
  • Demonstrates the ability to orchestrate the conversations that lead to innovation and meaningful impact
