Seeking Business Strategist and Operations Leader for Corporate Enterprise Capture and Proposal Team

How you contribute:
The Proposal Design Lead is responsible for the overall design, ideation, and execution of cutting-edge Enterprise Proposal Center (EPC) graphics and proposal assets from draft through conceptualization, editing/revisions, and production. The EPC Proposal Design Lead is a creative, collaborative leader who drives unique design solutions that align with ICF’s brand and pursuit strategies and has exceptional people management skills. The Proposal Design Lead will manage a team of graphic designers and document designers (formatters) as they support state and local, federal, and commercial proposal efforts across a broad range of services and industries (e.g., climate, energy, transportation, education, disaster management). This Lead will guide creative consistency; develop and operationalize processes for the team’s work; and work closely with EPC leadership to ensure the team is functioning effectively.
Develop and implement appropriate design strategies
Work with EPC and Corporate Growth leadership to understand business needs as well as industry best practices and work collaboratively to develop programs and deliverables that meet a wide range of proposal needs
Work with operating grounds/business units to understand their needs and challenges, seek feedback, and address (working with EPC leadership) any potential issues
Supervise and mentor a team of designers to elevate all creative outputs, maintain consistent proposal and brand standards and processes across the team, engage in annual goal setting and performance reviews, and ensure proposal teams receive excellent support
Ensure staff remain current with latest techniques and tools
Evaluate individual design deliverables and overall team performance, help resolve potential issues related to customer satisfaction
Develop and operationalize processes for the team’s work
Work closely with EPC leadership to ensure the team is functioning effectively
Determine scope of work and predict appropriate timeline on projects
Work within proposal schedules and coordinate with all parties involved
Track development of graphics and ensure workflow iterations through completion
Review, edit, and ensure graphics and proposal designs are properly executed to align with established standards as well as solicitation requirements
Conceptualize and create, or drive the creation of, innovative graphics based on inputs from capture/technical teams
Creatively adhere to ICF brand standards and solicitation requirements
Demonstrated experience managing multi-disciplined design teams (10+ years)
Demonstrated experience leading—and then implementing—design-focused strategy
Experience working at a corporate level with experience driving brand/visual assets across a large enterprise.
High level of proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat; as well as Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Strong computer and technology skills in both Windows and macOS operating systems
Strong communication, project management, and time management skills
Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
Knowledge of publishing principles and basics of publication design
Knowledge of production methodology for publishing products in hardcopy or electronic formats
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and to adjust as priorities changing
Working knowledge of desktop publishing skills and techniques
BA degree in Graphic Design, Computer Arts, or a related field and 10+ years of prior relevant experience
Master’s degree preferred
Experience working across multiple industries
Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
Ability to manage geographically disparate teams
Ability to manage and work with all levels of internal staff
Ability to remain upbeat, positive, and constructive within a dynamic environment operating under high-pressure deadlines
Experience developing and delivering training on graphics processes and procedures
Positive, collaborative attitude, even when under pressure
Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Customer service orientation
Strong organizational skills, initiative, and commitment to high-quality work
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information
Experience with Photoshop a plus
