Principal Data Engineer - Remote

ICF’s IT Modernization division is a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial, technology department, seeking a Data Engineer to support upcoming needs with our federal clients. This role will also serve as a Security Engineer responsible for helping government agencies modernize and transform through pragmatic enterprise strategies.

What you’ll be doing:
Extract, transform, and load (ETL) processing routines and data feeds to transmit data to and from clients; create necessary data structures or data models to support data at all stages; and design and implement custom data analytic and BI/reporting products.
Perform extensive data profiling and analysis based on the client’s data
Work with UI teams and/or client to define BI and reporting requirements
Develop custom reports and data visualization products
Design, develop, and recommend integrated security system solutions that will ensure proprietary and confidential data and systems are protected.
Interface with clients in the strategic design process to translate security and business requirements into technical designs.
Configure and validate secure complex systems, tests security products and systems to detect security weaknesses.
Support project delivery on ServiceNow/Appian/AWS projects for external and internal clients, including partnering with ICF subject matter experts on project execution
What you must have:
5 or more years’ experience developing database ETL environments with business intelligence applications such as Talend, Informatica, SAS
5 or more years’ of experience in managing complex regulatory and audit programs, focusing on secured cloud capabilities, to include Authorization to Operate (ATO) in multi-tenant environment.
Experience working with the National Institute of Standards National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) requirements and reporting
Experience in managing security Certification and Accreditation activities utilizing common control frameworks
Experience with risk mitigation and selecting or designing appropriate security controls for implementation
Experience applying cloud security concepts, requirements, design development, implementation, and integration for existing and new technology product offerings
Experience in managing security posture of cloud environment, and working with engineering teams to remediate, and communicating overall risk of environment while identifying areas of improvement
3 or more years of experience working with databases and BI tools such as Tableau, PowerBI
2 or more years’ experience with BMC Remedy and ServiceNow
US Citizen or Permanent Lawful Resident (Green Card Holder) preferred. Employment must be compliant with eligibility for Public Trust Clearance due to Government Contract.
What we’d like you to have:
Bachelor’s degree (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline).
CISSP and/or CISA certification.
Understanding of ETL concepts pertaining to data flow, data enrichment, data consolidation, change data capture and transformation.
Understanding of database concepts pertaining to referential integrity, indexes and keys and table metadata.
Demonstrated experience showing strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills paired with a desire to take initiative.
Proficient with one or more programming languages such as Java or Python.
Experience with Agile development process.
Demonstrated understanding and experience with DevSecOps.
