On-call Road Ecology Subject Matter Expert

ICF is looking for On-Call Road Ecology Subject Matter Experts to be based in Southern California to support company projects by providing technical expertise and recommendations.

About On-Call Employment with ICF

Given the seasonal or project-specific nature of our environmental work, ICF often hires environmental professionals as “On-Call” employees. On-Call employees are scheduled for work hours as they become available (we usually schedule work hours a few weeks ahead of time), and each on-call employee is free to accept or refuse the hours assigned to them in a given week. On-Call employees may work concurrent projects outside of their ICF assignment (along as their outside work does not create a conflict of interest with the work they do for ICF).

What You Will Do

  • Reviewing and providing feedback on road ecology study methodology.

  • Providing input on technical documents.

  • Performing QA/QC review of project documents, reports, presentations, technical memorandums, and other work products with a focus on technical adequacy, regulatory compliance, and client-specific requirements.  

What You Must Have

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in road ecology and wildlife biology

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in roadkill data collection and analytics and/or wildlife camera data collection and analytics.

  • Demonstrates a strong knowledge and technical competence of biological resources in southern California.

  • MS or PhD in biology, ecology, conservation biology, environmental science or related discipline.

Professional Skills

  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, including ability to identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions

  • Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information

  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)

  • Ability to handle multiple, concurrent priorities
