National Account Manager / Energy Efficiency  

National Products Team, supporting Residential Products Programs 

Location: Detroit, MI; alternate locations: Columbia (MD), DC, Fairfax, Madison, Jackson (MI), NJ (Must be in local vicinity) Hybrid

We are seeking an entry level candidate to provide support for ICF’s residential utility programs by providing national account management support. The successful candidate will contribute to the implementation of a variety of innovative, accurate, timely, and high-quality products and services, supporting multiple teams and projects 

The National Account Manager will gain exposure to various types of energy efficiency products and projects, interacting with a team of professionals to provide best practice solutions to our clients. This position will provide an opportunity for you to apply your academic knowledge; develop relationships with many retailers and manufacturers (many Fortune 100 companies); gain exposure to major projects; contribute to the evolution of processes and efficiencies; develop an understanding of both the industry and utility business environments and priorities; and build content knowledge and consulting skills. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Working as part of the National Products Team to provide support for the implementation of residential energy efficiency products programs for utility clients  

  • Creating and maintaining spreadsheets and databases for internal tracking and reporting 

  • Assisting in the preparation of internal, industry, and client presentations 

  • Maintaining relationships with retailers and manufacturers to be the primary point of contact for all utility programs; serving as a liaison and between those contacts and ICF staff 

  • Maintaining relationships and communications with ICF Program Managers to understand utility programs, sharing information from industry, and implementing program changes 

  • Maintaining a database of templates for contracts and legal agreements; facilitating negotiations of updates to those agreements 

  • Creating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets and databases for internal tracking  

  • Solving quantitative and qualitative problems 

  • Other duties as required to support our work nationally and provide direct support to leadership as needed 

  • Some (minimal) travel to industry meetings will be required  

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Sciences, Policy, or related subject  

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 

  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 

  • Prefer 1-3 years of experience working at retail or with utility programs  

  • Prefer previous experience with document and/or process management  

Professional Skills: 

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask with excellent time management 

  • Ability to work successfully and effectively with a geographically diverse team; this is a national position that will support ICF’s utility teams across the country 

  • Ability to work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment 

  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communications skills  

  • High level of attention to detail 

  • Strong organizational skills  

  • Exceptional research skills, including qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis  

  • Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients, partners, and vendors  

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems, and recommend solutions
