This position will report into ICF’s Experience Practice within the Digital Line of Business. This practice includes a large team of professionals in fields such as content strategy and information architecture; user experience research and design; digital performance optimization through web analytics, testing, search, and feedback tools; and customer experience strategy. The Work

This position will join an established, experienced team on a multi-year modernization project for a high profile, impactful, federal digital service. This position will become part of an agile scrum team charged with reimagining a regulated data entry interface, which will include participating in scrum ceremonies, assisting with product strategy, understanding user pathways, developing user stories, facilitating requirements gathering, and creating designs and specifications. In addition to leading a project part of the time, the Senior Manager will coordinate 3-5 additional UX/UI designers who work across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently contribute to projects that may have multiple owners and multiple team members who report to different supervising units
  • Serve as active and engaged team member accountable for all UX strategy and design, advocating for decision-making based on best practices, user research, and other data analysis.
  • Prioritize tasks and change requests in real time with excellent supporting documentation
  • Assist with Design Studios, understand user, client, and regulatory considerations for designs
  • Develop UX wireframes based on user, client, and regulatory considerations
  • Create documentation describing the functionality and specifications of designs
  • Use your creativity to help find solutions for the unique challenges the user may have
  • Be eager to learn from your colleagues and be an active contributor to the team’s collective knowledge
  • Mentoring junior staff in their creation of design deliverables

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in a UX lead or similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to collaborate with teams in an agile setting and work across many workstreams
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Talent for anticipating obstacles and risk in projects and proactively seeking solutions to mitigate them
  • U.S. citizenship required (required by Federal government for position)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with USWDS 2.0+
  • Experience with UX strategy and design projects for public sector clients
  • Experience in form design
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence to capture documentation
  • Management experience
  • Familiarity working on a large modernization project using Design Agile methodology

A suitability process may be required for positions supporting federal customers, and employment will be contingent upon the favorable outcome of the suitability/badge process. Depending on your role and project assignment, you may receive a request to submit a federal SF85P Questionnaire for Public Trust Positions and a fingerprint card for processing via the electronic questionnaires for investigation processing (e-QIP) system either immediately upon employment or later as project assignments change. The employee must complete the e-QIP application and return per the instructions within 4 days of receipt.
