Manager – Power Markets Planning
ICF's Energy Advisory Services Line of Business is seeking an entry- to mid- level manager to support our growing team and client base in the area of power markets planning consulting. In this practice area, ICF advises clients on strategies to pursue to help effect cost effective change and support infrastructure development to enable improvements in air quality and reductions in GHG emissions from the power and other sectors.
Professionals with a minimum of five years of experience working on US power market analysis including forecasting and policy impact assessments, with at least one-year direct experience supervising staff are ideal candidates for the role.
As a manager, you will be responsible for:
- Leading small teams of analysts to develop forward looking outlooks or the US power markets
- Interpreting results from modeling analysis of policy impact to power systems and costs
- Reviewing client deliverables for quality assurance and control
- Training and mentoring junior staff
- Organizing and managing research teams and ensuring information is disseminated in a clear manner

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a dedicated team of analysts to perform detailed modeling and long-term forecasting efforts associated with developing client deliverables in support of their long-term goals
- Manage multiple projects with overlapping timelines while ensuring excellent quality, consistency, and client support
- Communicate effectively with local staff and with staff and managers located in the US
- Help support growth of ICF’s business by improving internal efficiency, and developing staff expertise in subject matter areas
- Mentor and develop junior staff
- Collaborate with ICF senior management on key business decisions
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative-focused field. Candidates majoring in other fields must clearly demonstrate equivalent quantitative aptitude
- 5+ years of work experience in the North American electric power sector, including market or policy analysis and forecasting
- 1+ years directly supervising others
- Candidate should be familiar with production cost and capacity expansion modeling software such as Plexos,ReEds NEMs, PROMOD, IPM®, etc
- Strong communications skills in English, including ability to create effective presentations, write reports, and to convey complex issues in oral presentations
- Strong capabilities in Microsoft Office
- Experience independently conducting and supervising technical analysis
Preferred Skills:
- Master’s degree in any of the fields: Energy, Economics, Public Policy, Operations Research, Engineering, or closely related areas
- Consulting background
- Understanding of US EPA policies impacting the electric power sector
- Business development experience
