Manager, Lead UX Researcher - Remote

We seek a Manager, Lead UX Researcher to be a key part of a growing team of UX designers, researchers, and writers working across multiple projects. You will be responsible for researching users and their problems to help drive your team to solve the most important problems and discover optimal solutions. You will collaborate with other members of an Agile product team, advocating to put your first, whether they are individual patients managing their own healthcare, service providers delivering care, or analysts using health data to guide health policy.

This professional will serve as a member of the UX leadership team for federal healthcare IT projects for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, participating in hiring, managing, and developing the team as well as direct oversight and contribution to key client-facing projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a UX vision and strategy that aligns with business objectives with input from UX and product leadership.
  • Develop research questions, form hypotheses, and select appropriate methods that effectively uncover insights that drive product and user experience decisions and help achieve UX objectives.
  • Lead teams in building empathy and validating concepts with user interviews, surveys, developing personas, and other research in order to solve the most important problems.
  • Discover and develop UX solutions by leading ideation sessions, rapid testing, and concept validation.
  • Ensure teams solve problems effectively by leading or overseeing usability testing, user feedback sessions, and related research.
  • Work with product leadership to research, understand, and communicate user outcomes effectively and achieve UX objectives in delivered product.
  • Own client and stakeholder management by communicating compelling insights grounded in data, advocating for users, and clarifying the rationale of the research process.
  • Supervise 2-5 junior UX professionals and oversee their projects as an HCD Project Lead, coordinating effort across UX contributors and ensuring that a clear HCD process is followed consistently.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, human computer interaction, human factors, or related field.
  • 7+ years of applied UX research experience in the software industry.
  • Able to provide case studies demonstrating a strong research process and deliverables across qualitative and/or quantitative methods applied to software user experience.
  • Able to obtain a Public Trust clearance and show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or obtain a religious or medical exemption as required for government contracting.
  • Must be physically located in and legally eligible to work within the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in psychology, human computer interaction, human factors, or related field.
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 Level AA / Section 508 compliance preferred.
  • Experience in federal contracting or healthcare IT preferred.

Professional Skills

  • Manage time and tasks in order to deliver great designs efficiently and on-time as part of a broader team.
  • Use an Agile UX process to iterate on user experience and improve user outcomes.
  • Expertise in research ethics and best practices for human subjects to protect participants and control bias, including informed consent, personally identifiable information, NDAs, and related concepts.
  • Strong understanding of usability and accessibility including heuristic and expert methods.
  • Expert research skills across one or more methods including qualitative, quantitative, and design-based methods, and a demonstrated ability to manage tradeoffs and constraints in research methods.
  • Demonstrate excellent written, visual, and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work successfully with a cross-functional, diverse, and distributed remote development team.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final salary for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The salary range for Colorado is -

$118,089.00-$200,751.00
