Junior Public Relations Specialist - Media Relations (Remote)

We’re searching for our next Junior Public Relations Specialist. This role requires a public affairs and public relations background and will focus on communications related activities that support a cybersecurity-focused organization.

Strong candidates will have experience supporting clients with media relations activities and executing communications strategies. Experience supporting a federal agency’s communications operations is highly preferred. If you are passionate about strategic communications and have the requisite prior experience, we'd love to talk to you. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly metrics reports that are key to CISA media relations and public affairs programs.
  • Produce national, regional, trade and targeted media lists.
  • Provide recommendations to the client related to media coverage of cyber and physical security and resilience programs.
  • Develop communications materials in support of new or expanding programs and initiatives, including fact sheets, press releases and advisories, toolkits, talking points and other communications products.
  • Provide External Affairs staff with timely issues/crisis communications support.

Qualifications:

  • Currently holds, or is able to obtain, DHS Fitness Determination.
  • BS/BA in Marketing, PR, Communications, or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience 1)Assisting in the research, planning, research and strategic development of a comprehensive public relations and awareness campaigns. 2)Working with client and project team members.
  • Knowledge of public relations, and integrated media.
  • U.S. citizenship required (required by federal government for position)

Preferred Skills and experience:

  • Excellent communication skills, especially written.
  • Strong research and organizational skills, including processing large volume of data.
  • PR agency, corporate or government agency experience preferred.
  • Self-starter, with ability to manage tasks and handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
